Broken Hearts Healing Hearts

By Lelia Brannen

Our heart connects to our mind and body and neither can function without our beautiful heart. The

heart is something we cannot live without physically or emotionally. The heart functions 24/7, 365

days a year without pausing.

Heart Disease remains the leading cause of death globally, 640,000 Americans die from heart disease

each year. Nearly half of all Americans have at least one risk factor for heart disease and may not be

even aware. In 2016 the medical cost for cardiovascular disease was $555 billion and projected by 2035

to skyrocket to $1.1 trillion. Most money is spent on medication, heart procedures, doctors, and

hospitalizations. I don’t know about you but I’d liked to try a different approach to healing a broken

heart!

Our bodies are like the five elements of nature and duly noted the “elements” in the meaning of our

awesome Yoga studio “Elemental Yoga and Wellness”; these five elements, earth, water, fire , air and

space function together. When one these elements is out of balance in our body the result is “stormy

health or disease”. (Quoted from “Your heart is in your Hands” by Dr. Millie Lee MD.) Dr. Lee

developed a Heart Matrix tying the five elements to five conditions she calls system imbalances that

effect the heart.

Together we will review the five elements of the Heart Matrix and simple lifestyle choices along with

breath work, yoga sequences, meditation and mindfulness, and relaxation. Choosing one simple

lifestyle habit is the path to wellness.

We will be referencing Your Heart Is in Your Hands, by Dr. Millie Lee, MD, FACC. Dr. Lee is also a Yoga

Teacher / Therapist, studies Ayurveda, Functional Medicine, and nutrition. She wrote this book to

empower individuals to protect their hearts through simple lifestyle changes.

Let’s Discover Together – Giving yourself permission is the first step.
